'India will give befitting reply if tested': PM Modi's strong message to China, Pakistan on Diwali

New Delhi/Longewala/IBNS: In a strong message to the hostile neighbours on the occasion of festival Diwali, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said India, the country which borders China and Pakistan, will give a befitting reply if tried and tested.

Addressing soldiers in Rajasthan's Longewala, Modi said, "India's strategy is now clear. Today's India believes in understanding and making others understand but if tried and tested, it will give a befitting reply."

In the wake of border tensions with China, which has tried to trespass in eastern Ladakh, the PM said, "Today the whole world is troubled by the expansionist forces. Expansionism is one kind of mental disorder.."

"India is becoming a voice against expansionism," he added.

Modi also hailed the soldiers for opting out of borrowing foreign weapons.

"I congratulate the soldiers for this decision. This decision has inspired people to become vocal for the local," the PM of 1.3 billion people said stressing on self-reliant India.

Modi, who every year celebrates Diwali with soldiers, earlier on Saturday greeted the nation on the occasion of Diwali and wished for the festival to bring ‘brightness and happiness’ as most parts of India celebrate the festival of lights on Saturday.

“Wishing everyone a Happy Diwali! May this festival further brightness and happiness. May everyone be prosperous and healthy,” the PM tweeted.
