India seeks more S-400 systems from Russia after missile defence success in Operation Sindoor

New Delhi: Buoyed by the successful deployment of the S-400 air defence missile system during Operation Sindoor, India has officially requested additional units of the Russian-made platform, top defence sources told India Today TV.

The S-400 systems, already in operational use by the Indian military, played a pivotal role in intercepting and neutralising incoming drones and missiles launched by Pakistan amid the recent conflict.

Officials familiar with the operation said the S-400s exhibited high precision and reliability, effectively countering aerial threats across the western border.

In the wake of this performance, India has moved to scale up its air defence preparedness by reaching out to Moscow for further deliveries.

Sources added that Russia is likely to approve the request soon.
