India PM Naredra Modi holds bilateral talks with Zambian President

New Delhi, Aug 21 (UNI) India and Zambia on Wednesday held wide ranging discussions on strengthening bilateral ties, especially in trade and investment, development cooperation and capacity building.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held talks with Zambian President Edgar Chagwa Lungu and discussed matters pertaining to cooperation in defence and renewable energy.

"A time-tested friend! PM Narendra Modi and President Edgar Chagwa Lungu of Zambia held wide ranging discussions on strengthening bilateral ties, especially in trade & investment, development cooperation, capacity building, defence, renewable energy among other areas," MEA spokesman Raveesh Kumar tweeted.

Zambian President Lungu is on a state visit to India since Tuesday at the invitation of President Ram Nath Kovind.

Mr Kovind had visited Zambia last year in April 2018.

President Edgar Lungu would be accompanied by a high-level delegation including Minister for Foreign Affairs, Joseph Malanji; Minister for Commerce Christopher Yaluma; Minister for Mines and Mineral Development Richard Musukwa and Presidential Affairs Minister Freedom Sikazwe besides senior government officials.
