Lucknow/IBNS: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh virtually inaugurated the BrahMos Aerospace Integration and Testing Facility in Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow on Sunday.

Inaugurating the facility, Singh hailed Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for completing the facility well on time.

"BrahMos is a message to our enemies and reflects the strength of the country. This facility will enhance India's power even more," he said.

The Defence Technologies & Test Centre (DTTC), spread over approximately 22 acres, is set up to accelerate the growth of the defence and aerospace manufacturing clusters in the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor (UP DIC), an official statement said.

The facility is a key part of the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor and represents India’s commitment to self-reliant defence manufacturing.

It includes not only missile production but also testing, integration, and a materials complex for aerospace-grade components.

The launch comes amid military tensions with Islamabad, which reached an agreement on Saturday after India and Pakistan agreed upon an immediate ceasefire of all hostilities across land, air, and sea.

India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire effective 5 pm on Saturday after four days of intense military exchanges following Operation Sindoor, which was undertaken to strike terror bases in Pakistan and POK in response to the April 22 Pahalgam attack.

However, hours after the deal, Pakistan, later in the night, violated the agreement along the LoC at multiple locations.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said late Saturday night that within hours of the ceasefire declaration, Pakistan violated the agreement, prompting India to demand that Islamabad act responsibly and rein in the breaches.

“In the last few hours, there have been repeated violations of the understanding arrived at earlier this evening between the directors general of military operations of India and Pakistan,” Misri said in a press briefing on late Saturday night.

The government said it would treat any future act of terror as an act of war.

“We call upon Pakistan to take appropriate steps to address these violations and deal with the situation with seriousness and responsibility,” Misri stated.

The armed forces are maintaining a strong vigil on the situation,” he said, adding that “the Indian armed forces have been given instructions to deal strongly with any instances of repetition of the violations of the borders along the international border as well as the Line of Control.”
