India condemns PMSA's 'deliberate' attack
New Delhi/UNI: Condemning the ''deliberate'' attack and firing on Indian fishermen by a Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) vessel on April 12, India on Tuesday called it a contravention of all international established norms and practices.
The vessel attacked two Indian fishing boats -- Omkar and Mahasagar. The incident resulted in injuring one of the Indian fishermen.
“India strongly condemns the deliberate attack and firing on Indian fishermen on board two Indian fishing boats by a Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) vessel on 12 April 2020.
In the firing by PMSA, one Indian fisherman was injured,” the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement.
“The deplorable act by PMSA of firing at a fishing vessel and causing bodily harm to an Indian fisherman is in contravention of all established norms and practices,” it added.
“Pakistani authorities are called upon to instruct its forces to refrain from such acts of unprovoked violence,” the Ministry said.
Pakistan Maritime Security Agency is a uniform service branch within the Pakistan Navy and looks after the country's maritime interests.
Earlier on Monday, India made a strong demarche to Pakistan over the killing of three of civilians in ceasefire violations.
Pakistan in ceasefire violation on April 12 in Chowkibal and Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir had killed three Indian civilians, including a woman and a child.
India, in its demarche said, that killing goes beyond “humanitarian norms and professional military conduct" and called on Islamabad to "desist from such acts immediately.”
Pakistan, in a ceasefire violation, had killed 34-year-old Shamima Begum, 17-year-old Javid Ahmad Khan of Reddi Chowkibal and an 8-year old Zeeshan Bashir, resident of Tumna.
There have been continuous ceasefire violations over the past few months from Pakistan's side.
