India can foil ceasefire violation attempts: Jaitley

| | Jun 14, 2014, at 07:14 pm
Srinagar, June 14 (IBNS): Defence Minister Arun Jaitley said if Pakistan continued to violate the ceasefire along the Line of Control, then Indian troopers are capable of stopping such attacks.

Jaitley is visiting Jammu and Kashmir for two days to review the security situation and he arrived in Kashmir on Saturday.

"If they continue to commit such violation, then our army and troopers are capable of foiling it," he told journalists.

This is his first visit to the state after assuming office. He is accompanied by Army chief General Bikram Singh.

His visit comes a day after a major ceasefire violation took place along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Mendhar sector of the state.

Reacting to his visit J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah earlier tweeted: "Is it just a coincidence that the Defence Minister is visiting J&K, for his 1st visit, to review the security situation tomorrow? #ceasefire."
