Incidence of violence in Arunachal unfortunate: Kiren Rijiju
New Delhi, Feb 25 (UNI) Terming the incidents of violence in Arunachal Pradesh over the issue of granting permanent resident certificates (PRC) as most unfortunate, Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju said here on Monday that he has asked the State government to give full support to the victims.
Talking to media, Rijiju said 'the three days violence that happened in state of Arunachal Pradesh in which three lives have been lost is unfortunate and I have asked the State government to give full support to the victims.'
"I have also spoken to the Governor, the Home Minister Rajnath Singh also spoken to the Chief Minister,"he added.
“The problem happened because state government could not convey the right message to the people on this issue and now the government has already decided not to give PRC to non residents of the state”, he said.
“Peace must be maintained and there should not be politics on national interest because any kind of violence will hamper the growth,” the MoS Home said.
We have been told situation is under control, he further said.
Arunachal Pradesh witnessed massive violence for three days from Friday over the Joint High Power Committee (JHPC) recommendation granting permanent resident certificates (PRC) to six communities who are not natives of the state but have been living in Namsai and Changlang districts for decades.
