New Delhi, Sept 21 (IBNS); Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently on his way to the US for his week-long tour when he will attend the United Nations General Assembly meeting as well as address the 'Howdy Modi' event in Houston.

The Houston event has assumed more significance as it will be attended by US President Donald Trump himself.

Speaking on the event, the White House said in a statement earlier: "On Sunday, September 22, 2019, President Donald J. Trump will travel to Houston, Texas, and Wapakoneta, Ohio, to underscore the important partnerships between the United States and India, and Australia."

"In Houston, President Trump will participate in an event with Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India. The event, 'Howdy, Modi! Shared Dreams, Bright Futures,' is expected to draw tens of thousands of people. It will be a great opportunity to emphasize the strong ties between the people of the United States and India, to reaffirm the strategic partnership between the world’s oldest and largest democracies, and to discuss ways to deepen their energy and trade relationship," read the statement.

The 'Howdy Modi' event will be held in NRG Stadium on Sep 22.

The stadium is one of America’s largest professional football stadiums, is home to the Houston Texans franchise, and held the Super Bowl in 2017.

The Texas India Forum expects 50,000 to attend the summit, using the full capacity of the stadium in concert configuration.

Apart from Modi's address, people will also see “Woven: The Indian-American Story”, a 90 minute cultural program that is a celebration of Indian-Americans and their contributions to the cultural, intellectual, and social landscape of the United States.

According to the official Howdy Modi event website, "Presented by the Texas India Forum, Woven is a 90-minute music, dance, and multimedia show featuring close to 400 artists and community members from Texas and across the nation."

"There are 27 groups performing in a seamless live and multimedia experience that will showcase the diversity in the Indian-American community. 2 original songs have been written for the program, which will trace the journey of Indian-American youth learning their roots to understanding how to put that together with the contemporary world," read the website.
