Patna/IBNS: Janata Dal (United) Nitish Kumar was sworn in on Thursday as the Bihar Chief Minister for a record 10th term at Gandhi Maidan, Patna.

The swearing-in ceremony was attended by top leaders of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

BJP leaders Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Sinha were sworn in as the Deputy Chief Minister of the state, which battles poverty and unemployment.

In total, 19 MLAs including Choudhary and Sinha were sworn in at Gandhi Maidan.

The ceremony follows the NDA’s decisive victory in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, where the alliance won 202 of 243 seats, giving Kumar a strong mandate to form the government.

Over 20 ministers from the Janata Dal (United) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are expected to join the new cabinet.

Kumar’s historic 10th term highlights his enduring political influence in Bihar.

The new government is expected to focus on governance, development, and balancing alliance dynamics, with the composition of the cabinet and key policy announcements being closely watched across the state.
