High alert in three Uttar Pradesh districts after Maharashtra Naxal attack

Lucknow, May 2 (UNI): A high alert has been sounded in Uttar Pradesh, particularly in the three Naxal-hit districts of Sonebhadra, Mirzapur and Chandauli, in view of the recent Naxalite attack at Garhcharauli in Maharashtra.

Official sources said here on Thursday that direction has been issued to three districts by the police headquarters here. DG Law and Order and head ATS Anand Kumar, has issued directives to these districts for launching massive checking and monitoring all the interstate borders.

Intelligence agencies have also cautioned other Bihar ,Jharkhand, Bihar and Chattisgarh.

Polling in the Naxal-hit three districts of UP will be held on May 19, in the last phase of ongoing seven-phase Lok Sabha polls.

UP police have also stepped up security on the Indo-Nepal border.
