Gujarat civic polls result is a people's referendum on development in the state: Vijay Rupani
Ahmedabad, Feb 19 (IBNS): After the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won 47 out of 75 seats in the Gujarat civic polls, state Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said it was "people's referendum" on development in the state.
Rupani tweeted: "The result of Gujarat Municipality elections today is the people's referendum on development in the state."

The Congress won 16 seats.
Four seats were won by Independents and two by others.
No candidate got majority in six seats.
The incumbent BJP's tally of seats has gone down as compared to 2013 poll. The saffron brigade had bagged 59 out of 79 seats in the last civic poll in the state.
The civic poll had greatly assumed importance as the BJP received jolts from the Congress in the recently concluded Assembly election in late 2017.
In the Assembly poll, the BJP won 99 out of 182 seats.
Congress, which offered a tough contest, won 77 seats.
