Govt should take solid measures for betterment of labourers: BCP chief Mayawati

| @indiablooms | May 01, 2020, at 03:00 pm

Lucknow/UNI: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Mayawati on Friday appealed to the Centre and state governments to undertake measures for the betterment of crores of poor labourers on the occasion of International Workers' day.

In a tweet, Mayawati said, "The International Labour Day is celebrated as May Day by the working sections every year, but due to the current Coronavirus pandemic and lockdown, an unprecedented danger is surrounding their livelihoods. In such a situation, the role of the Centre and the state as a welfare government is very important."

The BSP honcho added, "Hence, it is an appeal to the Centre and state governments to undertake meaningful steps to protect the rights of the crores of poor labourer families while the private companies, which are arbitrarily making cuts in the salaries of employees to maintain their profits, should also be taken into cognisance."
