Govt asks Ex-MPs to vacate bungalows within 7 days
New Delhi, Aug 19 (IBNS): The Centre has asked all former parliamentarians to vacate their bungalows, provided by the government, in the posh Lutyen's zone in the national capital, media reports said.
The government has issued a deadline of seven days for the same.
However, at the end of three days, officials have been asked to stop power and water supply to these accommodations.
According to media reports, several former MPs are yet to vacate their bungalows at the Lutyen's zone.
In a series of tweets on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi noted the problems.
"When a new session of Parliament begins, newer MPs face lot of trouble as far as finding accommodation is concerned. I am glad efforts have been made to overcome this problem. Being MP means people from the constituency come too and they too may need accommodation," his tweet read.

According to rules, MPs are required to vacate their bungalows within a month of dissolution of the Lok Sabha.
The 16th Lok Sabha was dissolved on May 25 and all the bungalows should have been vacated by June 25.
