Hyderabad/UNI/IBNS: Union Home Minister Amit Shah who began his road show as part of BJP's campaign for the upcoming Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections at Warasiguda ended midway on Sunday.

As per the schedule he was to conduct the road show up to Sitaphalmandi but had to cut it short due to time constraint, according to the BJP sources.

Mr Shah will address a media meet later in the day, the sources said.

The top BJP leader had begun his roadshow from Warasiguda amid a sea of humanity which gathered to greet the leader much before his arrival.

He was seen throwing flower petals on the party flags and waving at the crowd.

The Union Home Minister embarked on the roadshow after offering special pooja at Bhagyalakshmi temple located near the historic Charminar here on Sunday.

Soon after his arrival at Begumpet airport by a special flight, Mr Shah drove straight to the temple accompanied by party general Secretary Bhupendra Yadav and OBC National president K Laxman among others.

A large number of party leaders and cadre had assembled near the temple to greet Mr Shah.

Soon after the prayers, Mr Shah left for the roadshow from Warasiguda crossroads to Sitaphalmandi.

Tight security arrangements were made in the areas near the Charminar in view of Mr Shah's visit.

After winning the Dubakka assembly seat earlier this month, the BJP is trying to utilise the GHMC elections to make a headway into the southern state. A strong show in the civic polls will boost the saffron party's confidence for the assembly polls in Tamil Nadu, due next year.
