Gehlot sends fresh proposal for Rajasthan Assembly session, leaves out floor test

Jaipur/IBNS: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has asked Governor Kalraj Mishra to call an assembly session on July 31 to discuss bills, including one on the coronavirus pandemic, without mentioning a floor test, media reports said on Sunday.

This is the second proposal by the Rajasthan Chief Minister to start the Assembly session.

The Governor, who had last week rejected the proposal saying there was no mention of date or a reason for calling the Assembly session, said he is examining it.

Confident of the numbers, Gehlot , who is aiming a floor test for his besieged  government to put an end to the political crisis, said the Governor is delaying the session due to pressure from the Bharatiya Janata Party led Centre.

Mishra has denied the charge, saying he will go by constitutional rules to convene the House.

Raising six objections, he had asked Gehlot to submit a fresh request for an assembly session.

Gehlot on Saturday had told his party MLAs he would even go to the Rashtrapati Bhavan to prevent the opponent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from allegedly stalling the floor test in the assembly.

After Governor's rejection, Gehlot held a cabinet meeting on Saturday and prepared a fresh proposal for convening Rajasthan assembly session.
