Four-time Assam MLA Majendra Narzary dies due to post-COVID complications

Guwahati : BPF MLA from Gossaigaon assembly constituency in Assam’s Kokrajhar district Majendra Narary died due to post-COVID-19 complications at a state-run hospital in Guwahati on Wednesday.

The four-time BPF MLA was admitted at Guwahati Medical College & Hospital (GMCH) after he had tested positive for COVID-19 and he had also co-morbidities like diabetes and hypertension.

He died at the government-run hospital at around 5-50 am on Wednesday.

The BPF MLA was 68 and he is survived by his wife and four children.

Majendra Narzary had defeated his nearest rival UPPL candidate Somnath Narzary with a margin of 10343 votes in recent assembly polls in the state.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma condoled the demise of Majendra Narzary and tweeted – “I am pained to learn about the untimely demise of Gossaigaon MLA Majendra Narzary. A dedicated social worker, committed politician and deeply loved, his absence shall be sorely missed. My heartfelt condolences to the family and prayers for eternal peace of the noble soul.”
