Former PM Manmohan Singh seeks leave from RS citing ill health

New Delhi/UNI: Former prime minister Manmohan Singh on Monday sought leave from the Rajya Sabha citing ill health. 
 

The leave was granted by the House.

Soon after laying of papers in the house, Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu said, ''A letter has been received from Dr Manmohan Singh, Member stating that due to ill health he is unable to attend the sitting from March 19 till remaining part of the current session.

"He has requested for grant of leave of absence from March 19 till the end of the session.''

The leave was approved by the House by voice vote.

The Rajya Sabha will be adjourned sine die on Monday.

The Budget Session was scheduled to end on April 3.
