FIR against Vanchit Bahujan Aaghadi Prakash Ambedkar for threatening to jail EC

Mumbai, Apr 5 (IBNS): The Election Commission has filed an FIR against Vanchit Bahujan Aaghadi alliance leader and Bharip Bahujan Mahasangh president Prakash Ambedkar for saying he would jail the Election Commission if their government came to power after the Lok Sabha elections.

"...Let our government come to power, we will not spare the EC. We will keep them in jail for two days," media reports quoted him as saying.

"The Commission is no more neutral. It is functioning as a BJP aide," he added.

Election Commission removes Kolkata police commissioner

Late on Friday, the Election Commission of India appointed new police commissioners for Kolkata and Bidhannagar on Friday.

In a letter to the West Bengal government's chief secretary, secretary to the Election Commission of India Rakesh Kumar said the poll body had reviewed the state's preparedness for the Lok Sabha polls and decided to make the new appointments.

Pollution Control Board ADG Rajesh Kumar has been named the new Kolkata police commissioner.

Natarajan Ramesh Babu, ADJ and IGP, Operations, has been named the Bidhannagar police commissioner.

Avannu Ravindranath and Srihari Pandey have been named the police superintendents of Birbhum and Diamond Harbour respectively.
