Delhi/IBNS: Actor Kangana Ranaut has been asked by a Sikh body to apologise for her tweet on an elerly woman protester at Farmers' agitation who she said was available for Rs 100, suggesting that she can be a paid protester, said media reports.

Though the actor has deleted the alleged tweet, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee's (DSGMC) chief Manjinder Singh Sirsa said Ranaut should tender an "unconditional apology" for the insensitive post.

"We have sent a legal notice to @KanganaTeam for her derogatory tweet calling the aged mother of a farmer as a woman available for ₹ 100. Her tweets portray farmers protest as anti-national. We demand an unconditional apology from her for her insensitive remarks on farmers protest," Sirsa tweeted Friday.

The DSGMC is a powerful Sikh organisation under the Sikh Gurdwara Act, 1971, which empowers it to look after the daily affairs of the Sikh community.

According to an NDTV report, Ranaut was also served a legal notice by Punjab-based lawyer, Harkam Singh. "It is to inform you that the said lady is not a fake lady. Her name is Mahinder Kaur and she belongs to Bathinda. She is the wife of farmer Labh Singh Nambardar..."  Singh said in the notice.
