A man who had returned to Haryana's Faridabad from Singapore for a family wedding was allegedly shot dead by his neighbour following a dispute over vehicle parking and an earlier disagreement involving a dog.

A man who had returned to Haryana's Faridabad from Singapore for a family wedding was allegedly shot dead by his neighbour following a dispute over vehicle parking and an earlier disagreement involving a dog.

The victim, identified as Paramjeet Dhankar, sustained eight to nine bullet injuries after the accused allegedly fired 15 to 16 rounds from his licensed pistol on the night of Dhanteras.

The incident took place in Sector 21C, two days before Diwali. Police identified the accused as Mohan, alias Monu Sharma, who lived on the third floor of the same building as Paramjeet.

According to the police, the argument over parking escalated before Mohan allegedly opened fire.

He subsequently fled with his family, and police teams are searching for him.

Paramjeet had returned home from Singapore

Paramjeet lived with his wife, son and daughter on the first floor of house number 641 in Sector 21C.

He worked for a major national company and had been staying in Singapore for professional commitments.

Originally from Hisar, he had returned to Faridabad just two days before the shooting to attend his nephew's wedding, scheduled for November 24.

The incident occurred at around 8 pm, shortly after Paramjeet returned home from the gym.

He then argued with Mohan, who lived in the same residential building.

Police said the disagreement centred on parking a vehicle.

The argument allegedly turned violent when Mohan took out his licensed pistol and fired repeatedly at Paramjeet.

Earlier dispute involving a dog

Investigators said the two families had a history of disagreements, with tensions reportedly escalating in the days before the shooting.

Five days before the fatal incident, Mohan had allegedly abused Paramjeet's son following a disagreement involving a dog.

Police are examining the earlier dispute as part of their investigation into the circumstances that led to the shooting.

Police search for accused

After receiving information about the incident, police personnel, Crime Branch teams and a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team reached the scene.

Investigators recovered empty cartridge cases from the spot as part of the evidence-gathering process.

Police have launched a search operation to locate Mohan, who allegedly fled with his family after the shooting.

Paramjeet's body has been sent to ESIC Medical College for post-mortem.
