Eight dies in bus mishap on Dhaka-Kolkata Highway

Dhaka, Aug 24 (UNI) At least eight passengers were killed and 30 others injured when a bus plunged into a gorge after breaking the railings of a bridge on Dhaka-Kolkata Highway at Dhuldi Rail-Gate area of Sadar Upazila in Faridpur district in Bangladesh on Saturday evening.

"A Borisha-bound bus was coming from Dhaka, which hit the railing of a bridge around 2:30 pm, killing 5 passengers on the spot and 3 in hospital," Dulal told UNI.

According to local officials, toll could rise. The deceased were yet to be identified.

At the time of filling the report, the rescue operation was underway.
