Guwahati, Apr 3 (IBNS): The Election Commission of India (ECI) has tied up with the Northeast Frontier Railway to increase awareness of voting rights of the people for the upcoming Lok Sabha election.

Aiming to aware the voters to participate in the election, Assam Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Mukesh Sahu on Wednesday has flagged off the Kamakhya-Gandhidham express at Kamakhya railway station in Assam’s capital city Guwahati.

The passenger train has carried messages of election as a festival of democracy for every citizen of the country.

Assam CEO Mukesh Sahu said that, it is an initiative under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program.

“We are trying to touch with the voters. We also trying to aware the people how to check their names in the voter list, if not, how to enter names, why is it necessary to vote etc,” Mukesh Sahu said.
