Eastern Ladakh: Second meeting between India, China at Corps Commanders-level underway
New Delhi/UNI: After a violent clash between troops of the two nations, India and China on Monday are holding military talks at Corps Commander-level meeting for the first time at Moldo Border Personnel Meeting point on the Chinese side to resolve the ongoing standoff in the eastern Ladakh region.
Sources in the Indian Army said, “India and China to hold Corps Commander-level meetings at Moldo. The meeting is underway."
Prior to this, both the countries had held three rounds of military talks at Major General-level after a violent face-off in the Galwan Valley on Jun 15.
The Indian delegation is being led by Leh-based 14 Corps Commander Lt General Harinder Singh while the Chinese side is being represented by South Xinjiang Military Division Corps Commander Major General Lin Liu.
Last time, the Corps Commander of the Himalayan Nations had met on Jun 6, wherein India had demanded restoration of April status quo, reducing mobilisation near Galwan Nala.
On the other hand, China had asked India not to construct roads along the border areas. India’s stand was that construction is going inside the LAC, therefore there is no logic behind Chinese objection.
During the meeting, it was decided that the military of two neighbouring countries will disengage in a phased manner.
During the process of disengagement, a violent clash erupted which led to the killing of at least 20 Indian soldiers. However, the Chinese had also suffered casualties but they did not disclose the figure.
