Drugs worth Rs 100 crore seized in Manipur

Guwahati, June 29 (IBNS): In a major achievement, the Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB) and Manipur police have busted a brown sugar factory and seized drugs worth over one billion rupees or Rs 100 crore in the international market in Manipur’s Thoubal district.

The security personnel have also arrested three persons including a woman.

According to the reports, based on intelligence input, the NAB and Manipur police team had jointly launched operation at Lilong Dam area in Imphal.

The combined team led by NAB Addl SP Th. Brinda, Officer-in-Charge B. Rishikesh and Thoubal Additional SP S. Sachidananda under the supervision of SP of NAB busted a Brown Sugar Factory at Lilong Dam area and seized 111.915 kg of heroin, brown sugar from the site along with seizure of instruments and chemicals.

The value of the seizure drugs is estimated above Rs 100 crore in the international market.

The security personnel had arrested three persons and they were identified as 40-year-old Md Matalip, his wife 35-year-old Samim Pusam and 29-year-old Md Serajuddin Mohammad and all are hailing from Lilong area.

The factory was running at the residence of Md Matalip.
