Delhi polls: AAP starts signature campaign

| | Aug 14, 2014, at 03:17 am
New Delhi, Aug 13 (IBNS) Demanding for fresh Assembly polls in Delhi, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) commenced a signature campaign in the national capital on Wednesday.

AAP leader Manish Sisodia and other leaders were seen going 'door to door' to get signatures of people who want re-election in Delhi.

"@msisodia & @ashutosh83B doing door to door to get signatures of people who want re-elections in Delhi," the AAP tweeted.

"The campaign will be launched from the Patparganj assembly constituency. AAP leader and former Delhi education minister Manish Sisodia will launch the campaign in presence of AAP Delhi convenor Ashutosh and state unit secretary Dilip Pandey. The venue of the launch programme is E-Block, West Vinod Nagar near Mangalam - Patparganj. (Nearest Metro station is Mayur Vihar Phase-I).  The programme will begin at 11 AM," the AAP earlier said in a statement.

The party said it has decided to cover all the 70 assembly constituencies during the next fortnight.

Ever since Arvind Kejriwal resigned as Delhi Chief Minister, the national capital has been under President's rule.

After remaining in power for 49 days, Kejriwal resigned as the Delhi Chief Minister as his minority AAP government-backed Jan Lokpal bill was not tabled in the Delhi Assembly on Feb 14.

The move has largely been seen as backfiring as the AAP lost much of its appeal with voters as the results of the Lok Sabha Election showed.
