Delhi Assembly poll: AAP to initiate signature campaign

New Delhi, Aug 12 (IBNS): The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday said it will initiate signature campaign in demand for fresh election in Delhi on Wednesday.

"We will begin our signature campaign demanding fresh election in Delhi, on Wednesday, August 13," the AAP tweeted.

"The campaign will be launched from the Patparganj assembly constituency. The venue of the launch programme is E-Block, West Vinod Nagar near Mangalam - Patparganj. (Nearest Metro station is Mayur Vihar Phase-I).We have decided to cover all the 70 assembly constituencies during the next fortnight," the party said.

Ever since Arvind Kejriwal resigned as Delhi Chief Minister, the national capital has been under President's rule.

After remaining in power for 49 days, Kejriwal resigned as the Delhi Chief Minister as his minority AAP government-backed Jan Lokpal bill was not tabled in the Delhi Assembly on Feb 14.

The move has largely been seen as backfiring as the AAP lost much of its appeal with voters as the results of the Lok Sabha Election showed.
