DCW chief Swati Maliwal seeks action against Haryana CM Khattar over remarks on Kashmir women

New Delhi, Aug 10 (IBNS/UNI) Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal on Saturday demanded action against Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar over his alleged controversial remarks on Kashmiri women.

Maliwal sent a notice to Delhi Police Crime Branch seeking investigation into the matter and action against Khattar.

She has asked the police to submit a report in the matter by August 14.

The Commission has strongly recommended Delhi Police for registration of FIR in the matters.

Earlier, Maliwal had flayed Khattar saying that he should be ashamed of his statement for objectifying women by stating that now Haryana men can go and marry Kashmiri women.

Khattar has been quoted saying since Kashmir is open, '...We can bring girls from there. Jokes apart, if there is a good (sex) ratio, the balance in the society will be set right," he had said at a rally in Haryana's Fatehabad on Friday.

The DCW chief further said on the one hand PM Modi is trying to build confidence and trying to unite people of Kashmir with the nation, on the other hand the Haryana CM is speaking against modesty of Kashmiri women.

She has also hit out at Rajya Sabha MP Vijay Goel for reportedly putting hoardings of Kashmiri women inside his residence and asked whether the MP would ever put up pictures of the women from his family.
