CPI-M welcomes SC judgement on Saradha scam

Kolkata, May 9 (IBNS): Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) has welcomed a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI0 probe ordered by the Supreme Court in the Saradha ponzi meltdown scheme.
On a press meet on Friday, Left front chief Biman Basu said, "The present Trinamool Congress (TMC) government has completely failed to protect the interest of the numerous poor people who had invested their money into Saradha and are now committing suicide out of frustration."
 
He said, "The Left Front would be fully satisfied with today’s judgement only if all the affected investors get back their money and they will help CBI in investigation process if needed."

 

In a setback for West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee during election time, the Supreme Court on Friday directed a CBI probe into the Saradha chit fund scam.
 
The apex court gave its verdict after hearing three petitions - two from West Bengal and one from Odhisa - on the case.
