Kolkata/IBNS: CPI-M MLA from West Bengal, Sujan Chakraborty, has quarantined himself after his colleague who drives his car tested positive for Covid-19.

Chakraborty, an MLA from Jadavpur constituency, tested negative for the contagion.

The CPI-M leader, who has been in the forefront in pulling up the state government over its handling of Covid-19, said he would stay away from any public programme for a week.

He tweeted, "Today I have tested COVID negative in WBLA. But since my colleague, who drives my car, has tested positive, I will follow norms of self quarantine & repeat test. I will keep myself off from public programme for a week. I was tested negative in the 1st week of the last month also."

The two-day monsoon session of the West Bengal assembly began on Sept 9 amid strict Covid-19 protocols.
