Covid-19: West Bengal reports 40 fresh cases, active cases rise to 423

Kolkata/IBNS: The number of active Covid-19 positive cases in West Bengal has mounted to 423 as the state confirmed 40 new cases in the last 24 hours, officials said on Saturday.

With two more persons discharged after treatment in the last 24 hours, 105 patients have recovered from novel coronavirus infection in the state so far while the number of deaths directly caused by Covid-19 stood at 18.

According to a bulletin published by the state health department, West Bengal has tested 9,880 samples so far, with 947 tests done in the last 24 hours.

Presently, 207 patients are under hospital isolation and 5,215 persons are kept in 582 government quarantine centres across West Bengal while 23,618 people are under home surveillance in the state.

Meanwhile, Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry's Saturday evening (5 pm) update showed that the total number of confirmed Covid-19 positive cases in West Bengal jumped to 571.
