COVID-19: Positive cases rise to 37 in Kerala, 44,390 people under surveillance

Thiruvananthapuram/UNI: With 12 more person testing positive to Coronavirus on Friday, total affected cases rose to 37 in Kerala, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said here.

Out of 44,390 people under COVID-19 surveillance in the state till this evening, 44,165 were quarantined at their homes and 225 in the isolation wards of various hospitals, the Chief Minister said.

Six persons in Kasargod have been tested positive to Coronovirous, five from Eranakulam and one person from Palakkad on Friday.

Though three people were tested positive to the Coronavirus earlier, they have been cured and later tested negative.

Hence, the total cases reported positive in Kerala were 40, he clarified.

"Out of 3,436 blood samples sent to the Virology Institute, the results of 2,393 tested negative. We are also awaiting for the lab reports of the others," he said.

On Friday, 56 people were admitted to hospital.

A total of 13,632 people were put under house surveillance, and 5,570 people have been released from observation following confirmation that they were not carrying the virus.

He also urged people coming from abroad to contact the health department, which took several measures to contain the spread of the deadly virus spreading in 168 countries.
