Kolkata/IBNS: Former West Bengal Chief Minister and veteran CPI (M) leader Buddhadeb Bhattacharya, who tested positive for coronavirus and has been undergoing treatment at Woodlands Hospital, is in a stable condition, a health bulletin from the hospital said Thursday.

The former chief minister tested positive on May 18 last and was admitted to the hospital with drowsiness and shortness of breath.

Bhattacharya is currently on BIPAP with 4litres of oxygen, SpO2  maintaining at 92 per cent.

He is presently conscious, alert, talking sensibly and taking food orally, the hospital said in the daily update.

However, he still has a dry cough, it added.

"His blood pressure is stable, he is having a heart rate of 56/min. Urine output is satisfactory," the bulletin informed.

"Injection Clexane, Inj Solumedrol, Inj Remdesvir day 4 are being administered and other supportive measures are being taken," Bhattacharya's health bulletin said about his medication.

Treating doctors are on constant vigil on his health and will take appropriate measures from time to time, the bulletin added.

The veteran politician was admitted to Woodlands Hospital Critical Care Department on 25 May last.
