Coronavirus: Nagaland bans entry of foreign-domestic tourists from tomorrow

Kohima/IBNS: As a precautionary step to prevent the outbreak of deadly novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Nagaland government on Monday decided to bar the entry of any foreign or domestic tourist in the state from Mar 18.

The decision was taken by the Nagaland government during a high-level meeting in presence of Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio here.

In an office memorandum, the state Home department stated that, the entry of any foreign or domestic tourist shall remain barred in the state of Nagaland from Mar 18 until further orders.

“Issue of new/fresh Inner Line Permits for tourists (Domestic/Foreigners) and all other categories shall remain suspended with immediate effect until further orders,” the office memorandum stated.

On the other hand, the state government has also taken a decision to shut down all educational institutions and university in the state from Mar 7 to Apr 12.

A notification issued by Home department (General Administration branch) on Monday stated that, as a precautionary step to prevent and control the outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-9) in the state, the Nagaland government orders the closure of all educational institutions (Elementary/Secondary/ Higher Secondary/Colleges/ Universities) both government and private in the state with effect from Mar 17 and shall remain in force till Apr 12.

“Non-essential official gatherings such as seminars, workshops, conference etc. are to be barred during this period. However ongoing Board/ Council/ University examinations will continue as per schedule,” the notification said.

On the other hand, the Nagaland Chief Minister has urged the elected representatives to go to their respective districts and hold meeting with the District Task Force.
