Etawah, July 7 (UNI): Two prisoners undergoing life term in jail escaped from the district prison on Sunday morning but one of them came under the wheels of a running train while trying to board it.

Police sources here said both the convicts escaped from the jail and when they were trying to board the Prayagraj bound Sangam express, one of them slipped and was run over. However, the other one managed to flee by boarding the same train.

Etawah district jail superintendent Raj Kishore confirmed that two convicts, who were serving life term, escaped from the jail. He said a probe has been ordered to find out how they escaped.

Both the convicts were lodged in Barrack number 5 and they were found missing during the routine checking by deputy jailor Jagdish Prasad on Sunday morning.

The convict, who was run over by the train has been identified as Ramanand (45), a native of Phaphund in Auriyya district.

The other convict, who boarded the train and escaped was Chandraprakash alias Chandua (49), a native of Ekdil in Etawah district.
