Congress wins crucial Kerala assembly by-election

Thiruvananthapuram, June 30 (IBNS) The Congress-led coalition government has won a crucial by-election in Kerala at a time when it is confronting corruption allegations.

 The Congress candidate, KS Sabarinathan, has been elected to the state legislature from Aruvikkara by a margin of more than 10,000 votes.

 Sabarinathan, a debutant in electoral politics, is  the son of G Karthikeyan, who was a Congress leader and served as Speaker of the Kerala Assembly.

He defeated the incumbent,  Vijayakumar, of the Left.
