Congress, other opposition parties protest against price hike

New Delhi/UNI: Opposition MPs staged a protest at the Parliament House against price rise on the second day of the ongoing Monsoon Session Tuesday.

Several Opposition MPs including Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress Lok Sabha leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi, CPI MP Binoy Viswam along with several other MPs staged a protest near the Gandhi statue in the Parliament House.

MPs carried placards, and raised slogans against hike in cooking gas prices and inflation in prices of essential commodities.

On Monday, the first day of the Monsoon Session, Opposition had forced adjournment in the Rajya Sabha over the GST hike.

Price rise is among the major issues that the Opposition has sought to discuss, along with other issues like Agnipath scheme, India-China border situation, and privatisation of banks.
