Congress leaders slam Jyotiraditya Scindia as he joins BJP

New Delhi/IBNS: As former Union Minister and four-term Lok Sabha MP Jyotiraditya Scindia joined the Bharatiya Janata Party, several Congress leaders criticised him for the move.

Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot tweeted: "The sooner opportunists leave, the better. Congress party gave so much, held various posts for 17-18 years, was made an MP, a Union Minister. Despite all this, what came out was just an opportunist, public would never forgive."

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh posted: "Now the Scindias can get back their HUF (Hindu Undivided Family) Status."

Scindia, who was the confidante of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, was inducted to the party in presence of BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda.

Scindia resigned as the Congress leader on Tuesday amid his differences with the party's top brass.

Welcoming the former Guna MP, Nadda said, "This (BJP) is a very democratic party where every individual has a say. I am sure he will have his own part in the BJP."

Hitting out at the Congress, Scindia said, "The Congress is not the same anymore. It is far away from reality."
