Congress expels its Assam MLA Ajanta Neog for anti-party activities

Guwahati: The Congress party on Friday expelled its one sitting MLA from Assam for her anti-party activities.

In an order issued by Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on Friday stated that Ajanta Neog is expelled from the primary membership of Indian National Congress for her anti party activity with immediate effect.

The order signed by Ranjan Bora – General Secretary (Org) of APCC also said: “This has been approval of congress president.”

Ajanta Neog was elected to the Assam Legislative Assembly from Golaghat assembly constituency for consecutive three times from 2006.

She held the position of cabinet minister for several important departments during the Tarun Gogoi-led Assam government.

Ajanta Neog would likely join BJP in presence of Union Home minister Amit Shah in Guwahati on December 26.
