Cong Rajya Sabha MP Birendra Singh meets Amit Shah

New Delhi, July 30 (IBNS): Congress Rajya Sabha MP Chaudhary Birendra Singh met Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah triggering speculation of joining the saffron brigade before the election in Haryana scheduled later this year.

According to reports, Singh met BJP president Amit Shah on Tuesday. It was also learnt from unconfirmed sources that Singh could join BJP before assembly elections in the state.

The closed-door meeting with BJP president came at a time when Haryana power minister Ajay Singh Yadav, a retired Armyman and an influential Ahir leader from the Rewari region, resigned on Tuesday, challenging the leadership of chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

Earlier, another MP Rao Inderjeet Singh had walked out of the Congress last year and later won the Gurgaon Lok Sabha seat on a BJP ticket in this year general election. He is now a minister in the Narendra Modi-led National Democratic Front (NDA) cabinet.

Birender Singh, too, had revolted openly against the Haryana CM refusing to contest the state elections under his leadership.
