Chinese Foreign Minister meets Sushma Swaraj
New Delhi, June 8 (IBNS): The first round of bilateral talks between India and China, after the Narendra Modi government took charge, commenced on Sunday with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi meeting Union External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj in New Delhi.
The Chinese Foreign Minister will meet Modi as well as President Pranab Mukherjee on Monday, media reports said.
Meanwhile, the Tibetan community in the national capital are holding protests over the Chinese Foreign Minister's visit.
"Tibetans are holding protests at various places in Delhi including Chanakyapuri, the hub of embassies and Majnu Ka Tila, which is home to the Tibetans," CNN-IBN reported.
Wang Yi's two-day visit to India comes as several outstanding issues including the boundary issue, stapled visas, as well as India's support to Tibetan refugees and the Dalai Lama are on agenda for the talks.
On May 29, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang called up Indian Modi, who reportedly conveyed the former that China is always a priority in India’s foreign policy.
