Charanjit Singh Channi to take oath as Punjab CM today

Chandigarh: Congress leader Charanjit Singh Channi will take oath as the Chief Minister of Punjab at 11 am on Monday.

He tweeted: "Met His Excellency,Governor Punjab today with PPCC President @sherryontopp ,Ministers,MLAs and Party Leaders. Oath will be taken as Chief Minister of Punjab on 20th September, 2021 at 11 am in Raj Bhawan with a limited audience.I seek blessings of the Almighty and my well wishers."

Channi was Technical Educational and Industrial Training Minister in the Captain government.

He was the Leader of Opposition in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha from 2015 to 2016.

He belongs to the Ramdasia Sikh community and was appointed as cabinet minister in the Captain government on March 16, 2017 at the age of 47.

He was named the CM of the state,a day after Captain Amarinder Singh resigned from the post.
