Centre should take all parties in confidence on border dispute with China, says BSP chief Mayawati

Lucknow/UNI: Stating that the boundary dispute with China and Nepal was a grave threat to the sovereignty of the country, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati said that Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party should abstain from doing politics for now while advising the Centre to take all parties into confidence.

In a tweet on Tuesday, Ms Mayawati said, "It is very unfortunate that when there is a crisis among the people due to the novel coronavirus epidemic in the country, even then, the BJP and Congress especially are practicing cheap politics and now, they are trading allegations even over the border dispute with China, which is not right in the country's interest."

The BSP honcho said, "Apart from China, the border dispute with another neighboring country Nepal is also taking a serious form. In such a situation, all the political parties of the country should rise above party-politics and think in the country's interests. Alongside, it would be better if the Centre takes everyone in confidence in such matters."

Accusing the Uttar Pradesh government of ignoring the poor, Dalit section, the BSP chief said, "Even in this extreme crisis of coronavirus epidemic, crores of poor people, workers and other hard-working people from all sections of the society are facing governmental neglect and persecution. The murders and harassment of Dalits, even during this time especially in UP, is extremely sad and very serious."

She added, "The recent killing of Dalits in Amroha's Domkheda and now in Bijnore's Ladanpur village is extremely condemnable. UP government, while taking the matter seriously, should provide full help to the victim family and initiate stringent action against the culprits so that such painful incidents do not happen again."
