New Delhi, Dec 17 (IBNS) At a time when Pakistan and Australia witnessed two major terrorists attacks in recent times, the Centre has directed states to tighten security at public places, media reports said on Wednesday.

"An advisory has been issued to all state governments," Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh told reporters .

Singh made the remarks as reporters were asking him on the steps taken by the Indian government following the deadly terrorist attack at a school in Pakistan which killed 141 people.

According to reports, militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba  might be planning to carry out an attack in India.

"Sources said that India has been warned by foreign intelligence agencies that the terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba may be planning an attack in the country to coincide with next month's visit by US President Barack Obama," NDTV reported.

Obama will visit India next month to be the  Chief Guest for India's Republic Day celebrations.
