Guwahati/UNI: The central government has asked Assam to prepare for Covid-19 vaccination programme between January to July next year.

Stating this at a press conference today, state Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said that recent meetings with the Centre have been more focused on the vaccination process.

He said, “We have been asked to prepare for the vaccination programme from January to July. It can start anytime between that.”

He added that the Centre expects vaccines from six-seven sources and it will not be a single brand vaccine across the country.

The frontline Coronavirus staff and people above 60 years of age will be given priority, Dr Sarma added.
