Kolkata/UNI: The anti-corruption wing of the CBI on Friday arrested the alleged kingpin of cattle smuggling racket Enamul Haque from New Delhi.

Haque, who is on transit remand to Kolkata today, will be produced in CBI Special Court.

It might be mentioned that CBI yesterday launched raids at several hideouts in the city and neighbourhood against the cattle smugglers, who have nexus with a section of security forces guarding Indian borders with Bangladesh.

Hundreds of cattle heads are regularly smuggled out to Bangladesh through the porous border, an state official, who has knowledge of the CBI raids against the accused, said.

He said the CBI sleuths, in four or five groups, each comprising 5/6 officials, began to raid from early today in various parts of the city including the central part of Kolkata's Manicktala area.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the third week of September had raided in different parts of West Bengal to bust the cattle smuggling and its nexus operating along the India-Bangladesh border.

Then raids were conducted at multiple locations -Kolkata - and Murshidabad district and seized many incriminating documents.

Even a central security senior officer was in the nexus list.
