Canadian news report flags ISI mobilising pro-Khalistani elements for terror attacks in India
Toronto/IBNS: Canada's decision to put its citizens-- Bhagat Singh Brar and his business associate Parvkar Singh Dulai-- on no-fly list has now revealed to be linked to Pakistan's plot to use pro-Khalistan elements to launch terror attacks in India, said a Hindustan Times report.
The link surfaced after Brar and Dulai challenged the ban on their travel, said the report.
According to the supporting case documents filed by Canadian security agencies, including Public Safety Canada, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and Canadian Security Intelligence Service, the country’s spy agency, Brar was “promoting extremism, including the radicalisation of youth, with the aim of achieving Khalistan independence; and attack planning and facilitation, including weapons procurement, to conduct attacks in India,” said the report from Stewart Bell in the Canadian outlet Global News, informed Hindustan Times.
Parvkar Singh Dulai has been described as “facilitator of terrorist-related activities and has shown an ongoing pattern of involvement within the Khalistani extremist milieu”.
In 2015, Brar visited Pakistan and got in touch with one Gurjeet Singh Cheema to plan a terrorist attack on India. The documents filed by the Canadian agencies show that Brar collected donations for gurudwaras and “is suspected to have been diverting major part of the funds for anti-India activities”, the HT added, quoting Stewart Bell's report.
Brar again visited Pakistan in 2018 to meet his father Lakhbir Singh Rode, the nephew of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and founder of the banned International Sikh Youth Federation.
However, none of the allegations has been proved in any court of law and neither Brar nor Dulai have been charged with terrorism, said the reports.
They have denied the charges levelled against them in the Canadian security documents, the reports added.
