BPF’s lone MP Biswajit Daimary resigns from Rajya Sabha

Guwahati/IBNS: The lone MP from Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) Biswajit Daimary resigned as a member from the Rajya Sabha on Saturday.

He will join BJP on Nov 22.

Daimary has sent his resignation letter to the Chairman of Rajya Sabha and Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu.

“As per provision of clause (3)(b) of Article 101 of the constitution of India and Rule 213 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Businness in the Council of States, I resign my seat/membership in the Rajya Sabha with immediate effect,” Biswajit Daimary said in his resignation letter.

Daimary was elected to the Rajya Sabha for third term this year.

“Today I have resigned as a member from the Rajya Sabha because I am going to join BJP tomorrow (November 22). I was elected as a member to the Rajya Sabha from BPF,” Biswajit Daimary said.

He further said that, along with him another sitting MLA of BPF Emmanuel Mosahary will also join BJP on Nov 22.

BPF is an ally party of the BJP-led Assam government.
