Kolkata, Dec 6 (IBNS) A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers has been allegedly beaten up and even branded him with the letters 'TMC' by using a burning cigarette in West Bengal's Hoogly district, media reports said on Saturday.

BJP worker  Bishnu Choudhury claimed that on Wednesday he was taken to a local club and then tortured for attending BJP chief Amit Shah's rally in Kolkata on Sunday.

"The group assaulted me and then one of them pressed burning cigarettes against my chest to write the letters 'TMC'. Then they took me home. Inside my house, they threatened me at gunpoint and warned me not to lodge a complaint with the police," Choudhury was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

Local TMC leaders have denied their involvement in the incident, reports said.
