'The Abhiyaan (campaign) will start on July 6 and continue till August 10, ' former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and party vice president Shivraj Singh Chouhan told reporters here.

Mr Chouhan is convenor of the committee that will oversee the membership process.

He said the programme for active membership will take place from August 16-31 and the target is to increase the number of members by 20 per cent which is 2.20 crore.

The present membership number of the BJP stands at 11 crore, he said, adding that 'apart from booths, we will add respectable people of the society and the youths.'

Enrollment will be done through missed-call also, he said.

Mr Chouhan said the focus will be on some states including West Bengal, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Puducherry, Lakshdweep, Kashmir, Odisha, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Sikkim.

'We have to increase the work of the party at every booth of every mandal of every district of every state,' he said.

After the election victory, BJP is preparing for organisation festival, he said.

Names of Prabharis (in charges) were decided and the list will be announced soon, Chouhan said.

On June 17, a meeting will be held where party president Amit Shah will be present and the process will be complete by June 24.

Dushyant Gautam, Suresh Pujari, Arun Chaturvdi and Shobha Surendran have been appointed co-convenors of the membership drive panel.
