BJP losing state after state: Shiv Sena takes jibe at former ally over Delhi poll results

In its party mouthpiece Saamana, the Sena also said the "selfishness" of the BJP has been defeated apart from lauding the AAP for winning the Delhi polls.

Earlier Maharashtra Chief Minister and Sena chief, Uddhav Thackeray, had tweeted, "I congratulate Arvind Kejriwal and the people of Delhi on the success of the AAP and best wishes for their future development."

The AAP, which has 62 of 70 seats, decimated the BJP which managed to win only eight seats.

Though the BJP returned to power with a thumping majority in the 2019 General Elections, which were held in May last year, the saffron party's performance in the state polls since then has been nothing to be much appreciated.

Though the BJP managed to form the government in Haryana by stitching a post-poll alliance with the Jannayak Janshakti Party (JJP), Maharashtra slipped out of its hands after it had disagreed with Sena's demands of 50:50 power share in the government and rotational Chief Ministership.

In December last year, the BJP lost control in Jharkhand where the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-Congress had unseated the saffron party.
